Kings Announce Coaching Staff for 2025-26 Season

SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - The Sacramento Kings announced June 24 the members of head coach Doug Christie’s coaching staff for the 2025-26 season.

In addition to associate head coach Mike Woodson, the team named Bobby Jackson, Mike Miller, Chris Darnell and Leandro Barbosa as assistant coaches. Dipesh Mistry has been elevated to assistant coach/player development while Paul Jesperson will be head of player development. Additionally, Jimmy Alapag and Garrius Adams will be player development coaches, Will Scott will serve as a coaching assistant/advance scout, Shandon Goldman as head video coordinator and Steph Ingo as assistant video coordinator.

Jackson rejoins the Kings after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers from 2023-25. He served as head coach of the Stockton Kings, the Sacramento Kings G League affiliate, during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, guiding the team to a G League-best 25-7 record in his final season. Before his head coach tenure in Stockton, Jackson held roles as an assistant coach/player development with Sacramento (2017-20) and as a player development coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves (2014-16). He played 12 seasons in the NBA, including six seasons with the Kings (2000-05 & 2008-09), and received the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2003. Jackson also played for the Denver Nuggets (1997-98), Timberwolves (1998-2000), Memphis Grizzlies (2005-06), New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets (2006-08), and Houston Rockets (2008).

Miller holds more than three decades of coaching experience, most recently serving as an assistant coach with the Washington Wizards from 2021-24. He spent the 2020-21 season as an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the 2019-20 season as an assistant coach with the New York Knicks before he was named interim head coach in December 2019. Prior to his time with New York, Miller was the head coach of the Westchester Knicks, the G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, from 2015-19, winning G League Coach of the Year in 2018 and leading the team to an 108-92 (.540) overall record. He also served as an assistant coach with the Austin Spurs, the San Antonio Spurs G League affiliate, for two seasons (2013-15). Before coaching at the professional level, Miller spent time as the head coach at Eastern Illinois University (2005-12) and Texas State University (1994-00) while serving as an assistant coach for UC Riverside (2012-13), Kansas State (2001-05), Texas State (1992-94), Sam Houston State (1990-91) and Western Illinois (1989-90).

Darnell joins the Kings staff after spending the 2024-25 season as the head coach of the Cleveland Charge, the G League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He previously served three seasons as the associate head coach of the Charge from 2021-24. Before his time with the Charge, Darnell spent two seasons (2019-21) as a player development coach/video assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers after working as a special assistant to the head coach in Utah during the 2018-19 season. He spent six seasons with the Phoenix Suns (2012-18), holding various roles from basketball operations intern to head video coordinator to player development coach. Darnell graduated from William & Mary in 2009 and completed his master’s degree in Sports Management at James Madison in 2011.

Barbosa returns for his fourth season as an assistant coach in Sacramento, joining the Kings prior to the 2022-23 season. He began his coaching career with the Golden State Warriors, serving as a player development coach during the 2021-22 season, which culminated in the 2022 NBA title. He also served as a player mentor coach for the Warriors during the 2020-21 season. Originally selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the 28th overall selection in the 2003 NBA Draft, Barbosa’s NBA career spanned 15 seasons. Barbosa played nine seasons with the Phoenix Suns (2003-10, 2013-14, 2016-17), earning NBA Sixth Man of the Year honors during the 2006-07 season, and also played for the Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics and Warriors, where he was a member of the Golden State team that won the 2014-15 NBA title.

Mistry enters his third season with the Sacramento Kings and ninth overall in the NBA. Last season, Mistry served as head video coordinator/player development coach. Prior to the Kings, he spent five seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, beginning as the team’s head video coordinator (2018-2019) and rising to a coaching assistant and special assistant to the head coach (2021-23). He began his career in the NBA with the Phoenix Suns during the 2017-18 season. A native of Canada, Mistry was the video coordinator for Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team from June 2017 to August 2018 and worked as the Senior Women’s National Team video coordinator from 2013-2016, participating in the Rio 2016 Olympics. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Ryerson University.

Jesperson comes to Sacramento after spending the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach with the Valley Suns, the G League affiliate of the Phoenix Suns. He served as the director of player development/assistant coach for the University of Oklahoma men’s basketball team during the 2023-24 season. Jesperson began his career with the Atlanta Hawks, working as a player development coach for two seasons (2021-23) and an assistant video coordinator in 2020-21. Before joining the coaching ranks, he played collegiately at the University of Virginia (2011-13) and the University of Northern Iowa (2013-16), appearing in 127 career games, including 69 starts.

Alapag begins his third season with the Kings as a player development coach. Prior to his time in Sacramento, Alapag spent two seasons as an assistant coach with Sacramento’s G League affiliate, the Stockton Kings, from 2021-23. He played two years at his hometown college, Cal State San Bernardino, and 13 seasons in the Philippine Basketball Association (2003-2016). Following his retirement in 2016, Alapag became an assistant coach for the Meralco Bolts during the 2016-17 season before joining Alab Pilipinas of the ASEAN Basketball League as the team’s head coach. He was at the helm of the Alab Pilipinas for three seasons from 2017-20 while serving as an assistant with the San Miguel Beermen of the PBA. He also served as an assistant coach for the Philippines national team from 2015-2017 and again in 2019.

Adams heads into his eighth season in the NBA, most recently serving as assistant video coordinator with the New Orleans Pelicans for the last two seasons. Previously, he spent two seasons with Sacramento as an assistant video coordinator/player development coach from 2021-23. Adams also worked as an assistant video coordinator with the Charlotte Hornets (2019-21) and was a coaching associate for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2018-19 season. A former international player, he played three seasons in Europe throughout Belgium, France and Montenegro. Adams graduated from the University of Miami in 2014 after a four-year playing career for the Hurricanes.

Scott returns to Sacramento after serving as a coaching assistant/scout last season (2024-25). He was previously the associate head coach of the Stockton Kings, the Sacramento Kings G League affiliate, from 2021-2024. Before his tenure in Stockton, Scott spent two seasons as head video coordinator and player development coach with Sacramento (2019-21) and three seasons as head video coordinator with the Los Angeles Lakers (2016-19). The Indiana University alum began his career with the Lakers in 2011-12 and spent eight seasons with the organization in several capacities.

Goldman enters his third season with the Kings and his first as head video coordinator. He previously served as Sacramento’s assistant video coordinator during the 2024-25 season and a coaching associate in 2023-24. Before joining the Kings, Goldman was an assistant coach at John Brown University during the 2023-24 season. He played collegiately at Northern Iowa University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Sports Psychology and later pursued a master’s degree in Exercise Science.

Ingo returns for his second season in Sacramento after serving as a coaching associate during the 2024-25 season. Prior to joining Sacramento, Ingo played professionally for the Winnipeg Sea Bears of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. He played collegiately at Marist University during the 2022-23 season following four seasons at the University of Maine (2018-22).
